Welcome to the Central Valley Wrestling Association Website. On behalf of the C.V.W.A. I would like to thank you for visiting our site, attending our events and supporting the great sport of wrestling in all styles that we offer competitively. Our goal is to maintain an informative site that will answer questions from parents, kids and coaches in our wrestling community.
I would like to keep an open free flowing dialogue that is constantly evolving to meet the varied needs of our organization and community. All of our officers are accessible and look forward to answering pertinent questions that can only serve to improve our service to the Central Valley’s wrestling community. Keeping you informed of your wrestler’s opportunities will be paramount in our approach to how we utilize the website.
On a purely philosophical note, I would like to guarantee our membership that the holistic development of your athlete is “the” most important concern when making organizational, financial and competitive decisions. Holistic in the sense that developing the young person physically through the great sport of wrestling while maintaining a concerted effort to develop their intellectual and cognitive abilities is absolutely necessary. From the Latin Educator, which means “one who brings up” we believe our roles as officers of the organization is definitely to “Educate” our membership and the young people that it consists of. This will take a variety of forms, and not just to include some people that host or put on a wrestling tournament. There will be much more value to simply purchasing a membership card to compete on the mat at a USA Wrestling event. Physical, social and mental development will be our approach to serving our membership.
Lastly, I believe it is extremely important to be cognizant of the fact that the C.V.W.A., Cal USA Wrestling and USA Wrestling the national body are the organizations recognized by FILA, the world governing body for amateur wrestling, as the vehicles for, and the roads to, the Olympic Games. There is no competition on the planet that is more indicative of man’s ability to give of themselves for the greater good. The Olympic Games of Ancient Greece to the modern Olympic Games of today are the exemplars of what sport and competition should be!!!! It is far more important for a young person to realize the full benefits of personal development that doesn’t result in the selfish arrogance of athletes that have lost sight of the real reason for competitive engagement. Service to one’s country, people and way of life are what we offer through the development of your athlete in our organization. As a matter of course, it is now mandatory for our host events to either render the national anthem of our country, or salute “Old Glory” with a pledge of allegiance. I can think of nothing that would please or impress me more than a C.V.W.A. member achieving the “highest” honor the sport of wrestling has to offer, which is representing and serving the United States of America as an Olympic athlete!
Winning is easy, building an incredible mind housed within a powerful body that culminates in a great American, is “far” more difficult to achieve!!! Let us all aspire to this ideal with our youth! Peace all.
